Community Happenings: Network Spring Cleaning, Service Ideas, Harness the Power of Automation & More

Blog Post created by hausmus Employee on Apr 9, 2018

Congratulations on making it through your first week of April! It sounds like some of you were completing a little spring cleaning on your networks, while others were reminded the importance of documenting steps. What did you learn last week? Pass it along and share it with the community at: This Week I Learned: April 6th

Last week, we also introduced a new Service Ideas forum to the community, and our first idea theme, Spreadsheet Killer. Check out our first ideas to vote and then, share how we can help you automate and streamline work you do in spreadsheets with tools, applications, and analytics. (Note: this is a private forum for Ciena customers, partners, and employees with a Service Portal account. Message me if you have a question about access.)

Now, here is your overview of happenings around the community for last week. Please join us in welcoming new members, celebrating others on their one-year memberversary, and sharing your experiences on discussions and questions:

Today, Monday, April 9th is National Name Yourself Day. If you've ever thought you should have another name or wondered what it would be like to have different name, today is your day. Or, if you like your name, but have a nickname you'd like to try out for a day, go for it. What name/nickname did you choose and why?

Did You Know

Did you know that personality traits can predict musical preferences? Jason Rentfrow of Cambridge University and Gideon Nave of the University of Pennsylvania recruited 22,252 participants online around the world to determine if personality does predict musical preference. Participants were presented with 25 excerpts of music that had not been publicly released and asked each to complete a standard personality test that rates five main components of personality: openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.  Their study showed that openness tends to be associated with an appreciation for sophisticated music, while extroverts tended to show a preference for unpretentious music. Do you think your personality traits align with your musical preferences?

Have a great week and keep networking!
