Categories associate content with keywords for easier searching later.

 

Content categories are words or phrases predefined by administrators within a particular place. If there are categories available in the place, it usually means that the place’s administrators have given thought to how the place’s content should be grouped and they types of questions and discussions that will be posted. Many times categories are also associated with certain tags behind the scenes to further optimize in search and filtering capabilities.

 

To apply categories to content:

  1. Create a new piece of content by selecting Action > Content Type or click Edit on existing content, and then scroll to the Categories section at the bottom of the page.
  2. Select check boxes for the categories in which your content seems to below. More than one category can be selected for an individual piece of content.
  3. When tags are associated to a category and you’ve assigned the same tag to your piece of content, the related category will be highlighted with a question mark as an indicator to assign that category.
