How to initialize a 6500 node database? In a lab, instead of delete all services, would like to use command line or site manager to restore the node to factory setting in one go.
Hi Junshan Li
Thanks for your question.
Hopefully you have access to the Ciena Technical Publications. If not, these can be downloaded from the Ciena Portal.
323-1851-301 Admin Security Issue 1
"Procedure 4-10 Deleting all Shelf provisioning information for a standalone shelf or all shelves of a consolidated node"
This procedure will remove all provisioning information, including communication settings.
Hope this helps.
Hi Junshan Li, we've received your question and I'm working on getting you help. You should receive an update soon.
Thanks for your reply, I haven't had chance to try it. But by looking the procedure 4-10, in the Prerequisites it has the following one, • Wavelengths added, dropped, or passed-through any shelf to be deleted must be deleted along with any corresponding Photonic cross-connects.
Not quite sure what it means, but seems still have to delete photonic config first, right??
If you have a photonic domain, then
You will have to use the DOC (Domain Optical Controller) and remove the channels from the photonic domain which pass through, add or dropped in the Node to be deleted.
The DOC is found within the Site Manager application.
Hi Junshan Li, I just wanted to check in and see if you had any additional questions or were able to resolve your question. I'm going to go ahead and mark Brett's responses as Correct and Helpful based on your responses to them, but you're welcome to update it and / or ask additional questions.
If you need to revert node to factory defaults, the only way to do it without dismantling service by service is to restore node from empty backup config. You need to do such backup on empty node (without services) with same release, if I'm not mistaken.
If for some reasons you got unresolvable problems with deleting provisioned facilities and unable to restore node to problem-free backup, you need to call Ciena tech support.
