I need to create and update SFDs and the stencils I have are out of date and I do not have many of the newer components. I have no 6200 stencils at all. I would like to download all of the OM6200/6500 latest if at all possible.
Hi Mike, you can find available stencils, here.
Let us know if you're unable to find a stencil you need and I can help track them down or request them.
The stencils contained in this link are very helpful, but they do not appear to include the stencils that are used to create the signal flow diagrams-
I am not sure how to elaborate without attaching an example of what I am looking for.
Can you send an example to me at email@example.com? I can then look into it further and get back to you.
Hi Heather. I'd like to attach some examples, but I can't attach .vss files in this forum
Hey Mike Keim, you can attach it if you go into edit mode on your original post. You'll find Edit in the upper right corner of the page (when you're viewing your post) just below your avatar picture, select it. Once you're in edit mode, you will find Attach in the lower left corner of the description field. You should be able to attach .vss files. If you're not able to attach it, let me know.
Mike, I just wanted to share an update on this with you. I forwarded your file to our team internally and they're looking into it. I'll pass on additional information as soon as I have one, but know that we're working on it.
I do not have a connection to the Ciena group that made the Visio stencils so I cannot help with availability. However, I can probably help with their use and behavior. Feel free to post your questions here and I'll do my best to assist.
Hi Brett, Now that I have figured out how to define shape data for stencils that I am creating, how can I get the shape data to appear for editing when I select it? On most of the older Ciena stencils that I have, when I drag them to the sheet the shape data window appears (or when I select/double click the shape) and I can edit the data specific to location, shelf, slot, etc. Thanks for you assistance.
Hi Mike - please tell me which Ciena stencils you have so I can see the behavior you refer to. From what you've described, there is some inconsistency in behaviors within the Ciena collection so I'd like to test those that you are using. It will be sufficient if you can tell me just one where the Shape Data window opens on drop, and one where that does not happen. Also, please tell me which version of Visio you have since the UI to the Shape Data window was changed with time. There is a way to view it with menu selections.
In the shapes we create, our standard is to enable double-click on the shape to open Shape Data but there are other ways to do it. As you've observed, it's also possible to program the shapes to open Shape Data when the shape is dropped on the page but we typically avoid that method because it can be annoying to users. It's better to open Shape Data on demand. All of our shapes use the double click method.
PS: I'm also interested in seeing what symbols you need for the signal flow diagrams that you mentioned earlier in this thread.
