I am looking for the documentation for password recovery for Ciena LE-3300 switch.
Hi Moid Ali Khan, I branched your question to a new thread. Welcome to the Ciena Community! I'll help you in the background locate the documentation. I'll post an update, or you'll hear from someone with additional information.
FYI: John Stauffer
While I have not had direct experience with this specific switch, one option would be to perform a full factory reset on it. This process results in loss of configuration and loss of service.
in the case of the CN 3900 series (which is partially derived from the LE-3300 product line) the procedure is:
Under normal operation, the reset button should not be used. However, if the device will not boot properly and the Status LED is off or continues blinking, a manual system reset can be performed as a last resort. A small unlabeled hole on the front of the chassis provides access to a reset button just inside the chassis. Inserting a small flat-tipped object, such as a straightened paper clip, and pressing the reset button causes the device to perform one of the following:
1. Pushing the reset button for less than 2 seconds will shut down and reboot the device.2. Pushing and holding down the reset button for 2 -10 seconds will shut down and reset the device to the factory default settings.3. Pushing and holding down the reset button for 10 seconds or more will execute a “hard reboot.” Use this feature when the device does not respond to either of the other two options.
WARNING: A system reset should ONLY be performed when all other troubleshooting efforts have failed to resolve the problem. Pressing the Reset button reboots the unit’s CPU. Flash memory, including application and configuration data, are erased. The device reverts to the factory default settings.
The LE-3300 was later renamed the 5305. Which may help in your hunt for documentation. It ran SAOS 5.x
There is a reset button on each of the control modules, next to the CompactFlash slot.
Thank you Simon!
