What are the supported usb for 6500 SP card?
I've never actually used this feature to try to transfer a software load.
According to 323-1851-301 Administration and Security Issue 1 (REL11.2); Procedure 7-4 Installing a USB flash storage device, pg415/534.
It looks like the USB must be:
— USB1.1 or USB 2.0 compatible— minimum 1 GB, FAT32 formatted
Not sure what kind of SPs you have or what software release you're using but I saw this note also in the 323-1851-102.1 Common Equipment Issue 1 (REL11.2) p18/196:
Attention: The USB port in shelf processor NTK555CAE5 or NTK555FAE5 is hardware-ready but not functional in this release.
Let us know if it works!
Thanks for that feedback.
I have seen Procedure 7-4 and considered the notes for the USB.
However I have not seen from my own copy of Common Equipment Release 11.2 323-1851-102.1 Standard Issue 1 Copyright© 2010-2016 Ciena® Corporation July 2016 which has a total page of 306 in PDF format the attention notes mentioned.
I did try around 8 USB flash but still SP would not identify any flash connected or simply it is still disable.
Hi Chris -
Sorry about the incorrect reference. It took me hours to try to find where I got that again. That note was pulled from a Release7 doc - not a Release11.2.
i use a Kingston DTSE9 8GB Flashdrive. I have used it to do Backups and Software transfers. The Site Manager Interface is not very informative. The last time i used it the status went blank when i had a USB inserted. Then when dismounted the status goes to disable. If i remember correctly, the security logs show when it detects a USB drive inserted. I found it to be a much speedier way to transfer a software load to the NE.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your inputs. I did try other brands of USB 2 but still fails. Also now a days could not find Kingstone brand.
