Hi all,

We have 1 Ring (LR6) with 2 VR connected on it (VR12 and VR13). LR are being connected by 3 Ciena Switch (as tolopolgy attached)

We are facing one problem whereby on one of the Ciena Switch (CI4) shows status of “recovering” but on the other 2 is stated OK.

Below is the configuration on 3 switch :

Ciena 1 (CI1) 3930 Service Delivery Switch

CI1> conf sea str LR6
ring-protection logical-ring create logical-ring-name LR6 ring-id 6 west-port 1 east-port 3
ring-protection virtual-ring create virtual-ring-name VR12 logical-ring LR6 raps-vid 3013
ring-protection virtual-ring create virtual-ring-name VR13 logical-ring LR6 raps-vid 3014

Ciena 4 (CI4) 3930 Service Delivery Switch

CI4> conf sea str LR6
ring-protection logical-ring create logical-ring-name LR6 ring-id 6 west-port 6 east-port 2
ring-protection virtual-ring create virtual-ring-name VR12 logical-ring LR6 raps-vid 3013
ring-protection virtual-ring create virtual-ring-name VR13 logical-ring LR6 raps-vid 3014

Ciena 5 (CI5) 5142 Service Aggregation Switch

CI5> conf sea str LR6
ring-protection logical-ring create logical-ring-name LR6 ring-id 6 west-port 16 east-port 24
ring-protection virtual-ring create virtual-ring-name VR12 logical-ring LR6 raps-vid 3013
ring-protection virtual-ring create virtual-ring-name VR13 logical-ring LR6 raps-vid 3014

Due to this status of recovering, when the the primary link that connectes both end failed, it doesn’t fail over to the secondary link as its suppose to.

Does anyone know whats the issue?
