We are a CIsco shop, and we are in the process of getting a pair of 6500's installed at each of our data centers. We are having issues getting 40GbE and 10GbE connectivity. We have:
- (2) F3-Series 48 port 10 gigabit and (2) F3-Series 24 port 40 gigabit line cards installed in 4 Nexus 7706 chassis (2 per data center).
- SFP-10G-SR and QSFP-40G-SR4-S optics
- (2) Ciena 6500 7-slot chassis per data center
- NTTP86AA (10GbE) and 160-9503-900 (40GbE) optics
The installer tested connectivity between sites using his test pack, and 40GbE, 10GbE, and 8GB fibre channel testing was successful. When we went to connect our clients (Nexus), the amber lights on the Nexus line cards turned off, but didn't switch to green showing a connection. The amber light on the Ciena line card went off denoting a connection. There's not much on the Ciena that can be changed from a configuration standpoint. On the Nexus interface, we have hard coded speed, used AUTO -- we are stumped. We're starting to think that there's an SFP/XFP incompatibility.
