Can someone help setup traps on Ciena 3932, reading the technical document are very confusing.
Hi Tuan, you've come to the right place!!
I'm sharing your thread with members of our Packet Networking forum. We have other users and SMEs of 3932 that may be able to help you. If you have any additional details on where you're getting confused on setting up traps and in the technical documentation that you can provide, it would be very helpful. I can even pass the feedback on to our documentation team. Please add the additional details as a comment on this thread.
Hi Tuan Do
Thanks for the question, so many options to select from.......
But to get you running this configuration should help:
snmp enablesnmp create target-param v2c_public sec-name public sec-model v2c sec-level noAuthsnmp create target <name> addr <IP address of SNMP Trap Server>/32 param-name v2c_public transport-domain snmp-udp
To test, simply do a "config save" command and a trap will be sent.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know.
thanks you! Brett
I will try with these command first and try to get the snmp v3 with the encrypt hash setup
'> snmp show target' is the show command for the Snmp target configuration.
I'm not sure if you have SNMP v3 setup or not, but here are some configs that might help.
snmp create user user3
snmp security-to-group attach user user3 sec-model v3 group user3_group
snmp create viewtree V3View sub-tree iso type include
snmp create access-entry user1_group sec-model v3 sec-level authWithPriv read-view V3View write-view V3View notify-view V3View
snmp create access-entry authPrivGroup sec-model v3 sec-level authWithPriv read-view ESM notify-view ESMsnmp create access-entry user2_group sec-model v3 sec-level authWithPriv read-view V3View notify-view V3View
In addition, you may also needs these commands:
snmp create viewtree commsread sub-tree mgmt type includesnmp create viewtree commswrite sub-tree mgmt type includesnmp create viewtree ESM sub-tree iso type include
You'll need the correct software license install for SNMPv3. ''software license show'.
Also, create a user:
> snmp create user SNMPv3_User auth-protocol md5 echoless-auth-password priv-protocol des echoless-priv-password engine-id 80:00:04:f7:05:00:23:8a:ea:4c:b0:00
> snmp create user SNMPv3_User auth-protocol md5 echoless-auth-password priv-protocol des echoless-priv-password
Enter Password: ('snmpv3' for my example) Verify Password: Enter Password: Verify Password:
'> snmp show users
Thanks you all with the example
