Trying to reinstall OneControl 5.1.0 on a Win 10 machine but the install client sees an old version of the software after the program files have been deleted and the program uninstalled via the add/remove programs.
So I tried that but it wasn't successful, the system clock kept resync'ing to the current date. Not sure if this is a function of Win 10 or the corp internet. I was able to disable all start up services, programs and boot the computer offline. I still got the same error message 'Cannot install OneControl because there is already a version running, please select exit and stop all instances' or something to that effect. This time I was able to select the 'X' in the corner and after a few tries at closing the warning it allowed me to proceed with the installation for 5.1.0. After that 6.1.0 was failing with a new error message about not being able to complete the installation. The fix for that was to re-enable all the services, download the new version of Adobe Air, and then proceed with the installation as normal. First attempt after Adobe Air was installed gave the same errors about an instance already running and I had to select the 'X' in the corner a few times before it would allow me to proceed. At this time I have both 5.1.0 and 6.1.0 functioning on my computer.
Thanks for the time and the help, we wouldn't have realized that there was a time factor that the installation was sensitive to and forced the installs offline with out it.
Welcome to the community, Josh! I'm sharing your question with our Network Management forum members and I'll get in touch with other OneControl users and SMEs that have experienced this and may be able to help address your question. If you have any updates to share in the meantime, please let us know on this thread.
Thanks Heather, I have also tried completely uninstalling 6.1.0 which was on my laptop as well and uninstalling Adobe Air which was a pre requisite. Neither action allowed me to reinstall from the client files we have on our servers.
I've heard from one of our OneControl SMEs regarding your first question and he, Navid, shared the following:
According to the OneControl 5.1 Engineering Guide (450-3201-010), Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise Edition (32-bit & 64-bit) is supported, not Windows 10.
I'll share your follow up comment with him and ask for additional insights on it because the documentation states that Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise Edition (64-bit) as a supported operating system for OneControl 6.1.
Josh, we have one follow up question for you, what patch level are you running on for 6.1.0?
I need both versions 5.1.0 and 6.1.0 active and working. As far as I can tell the 6.1.0 version works fine, the 5.1.0 had to be stopped mid install and cannot be patched/uninstalled/reinstalled
The two full versions are 5.1.0 P03 320989 and 6.1.0 P01 328456
Thank you Josh. We think this might be related to an issue that is fixed in OneControl 6.3 and the issue is with the Adobe Air certificates being expired. The following is a workaround that has been provided:
Please keep us updated on how it goes.
I'm so glad to hear that you have both versions functioning on your computer now, and you're welcome - I'll pass your note along to our product team too.
Thank you so much for sharing how you resolved it with the community too, I appreciate the time in sharing it. I'll mark your response as the correct answer to highlight it should others have the same question in the future.
Have a great day!
