Chief Security Architect at CienaJim Carnes is the Chief Security Architect at Ciena where he is responsible for evaluating emerging trends in IT security and next-generation security capabilities. Before joining Ciena, Jim served as the Technical Director for Enterprise Connectivity Services at a U.S. Department of Defense's Agency, where he set the security direction and architecture for the organization's global network. He also served as Chief of the Security Testing Center where he was responsible for vulnerability assessment and penetration testing services. Jim holds a M.S. from Johns Hopkins University in Information Technology and Telecommunications. He also holds a B.S. from Johns Hopkins University in Information Systems with a focus on Cyber Forensics. He holds the CISSP certification from ISC2 and the GPEN and C|EH penetration testing certifications.
- Ranjit Ramachandran
Senior Director at CienaRanjit Ramachandran is Senior Director at Ciena where he oversees the architecture and design of network solutions. Specifically, his expertise is in the deployment of cloud-based networking using SDN, NFV and orchestration frameworks. With more than 15 years of experience, he has held various network design and engineering roles. Prior to joining Ciena, Ranjit worked for Apple, where he contributed to the design and building of the company’s next generation data centers. In addition to architecting Apple’s data centers, Ranjit developed business cases and models around implementation and new services. He also held roles at Manhattan Associates, Iloka Internet Technology Services and Sify Technologies Limited supporting network services.Ranjit has a Master’s degree in Business from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University.
