I have Windows 8.1 laptop and currently I have OneControl client 5.1 already installed on my PC. We are planning to go to version 6.1 of OneControl and I am trying to install this new client.
Hello Kostya Pobigaylo
About your question, if you want to install the OneControl client version 6.1 you need to have on the operating system:
Windows OS requirements (single client platforms)
The following Windows operating systems are supported for OneControl 6.1
single client platforms:
• Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise Edition (64-bit)
• Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise Edition (32-bit & 64-bit)
Browser • IE 6.1 or later• Firefox 3.6.x or later
If you need more information you can found it on the technical documentation 540-3201-010_(OneControl_6.1_Engineering_Guide)_14.01.pdf on the web portal Ciena.
Thank you for your reply!
I have read this document you have mentioned and I know that the only supported OS versions are Windows 7 and Windows 10. But, unfortunately, at the moment my company laptop has Windows 8.1 installed and one of my colleagues successfully installed OneControl Client 6.1 on his laptop running Windows 8.1 OS. I thought there are might be some work around on this, because I am sure I am not the only one customer who is having this issue. Many Thanks, Kostya
Maybe you can try running the application in compatability mode? right click shortcut -> compatability tab. The option is there in windows 7 but I don't have windows 8 to know if it is there for you.
