I am working on ciena switches 3930 & 5142. when i do software upgrade in this nodes, should i perform chassis reboot or any other refresh activity ? Pls advise
Also, keep in mind that if you're using the "software upgrade..." command, the switch will automatically reboot once the install is complete. If you don't want it to do that, use the "software install..." command, which will install the new software to the standby software bank. Then you can reboot the switch when you're ready by using the "chassis reboot now" command.
Yes, you need to reboot the chassis for a software upgrade or downgrade to take effect. Make sure you save your config before you start the reboot!
Chelsi said it all correctly.
I would also recommend to always save the LAST running config. prior to any upgrade!

The following command will upgrade the switches software package, and reboot the device:
NOTE: (you may also set the TFTP server IP address separately).

Hey Gladson, I just wanted to check in and see if Chelsi's responses helped answer your question and that your software upgrade was successful. Look forward to hearing an update.
