We try to enable MD5 authentication on our 6500s, but I realized that MD5 secret will be fully visible on Site Manager. Is there any way how to have the MD5 value encrypted in OSPF circuit settings view in Site Manager?
Hi Alex, I'm sharing this with our 6500 forum members to make them aware of your question and see if anyone can help provide some guidance. Today, I'll also reach out to our some our 6500 SMEs and see if I can get you some additional information. Stay tuned!
I should have additional insights for you tomorrow. Thank you for your patience, Alex!
Hey Alex, so I've been speaking with members of our 6500 engineering team and this time, there is now way to encrypt the MD5 value. They're noting this a feature request, but would also recommend opening a case to have it entered in our system to track it.
If there are any additional updates from our engineering or design team, you'll hear from me or one of them on this thread.
we are already in contact with Ciena due to the fact that we will start to use MD5 on our 6500 nodes, I posted here the question just as a parallel research project. Indeed it seems is not something possible at the moment, but maybe there will be some changes related with MD5 in the future, until then we will use it as it is.
